Sustainable Partner Spotlight: Zerro Toothbrushes
Sustainable Partner Spotlight
Thoughtfully chosen Canadian brands we proudly partner with, led by real people, guided by shared values, and committed to low-waste living.

Some sustainable changes happen quietly.
They don’t shout. They don’t demand a full routine overhaul. They simply slip into everyday life and over time, they make a real difference.
That’s exactly why we love Zerro.
Toothbrushes are one of those items we replace on autopilot. Every few months, we toss the old one and grab a new one without much thought. For decades, that’s meant throwing away a fully plastic product again and again, year after year.
Zerro asked a simple but important question: What if we didn’t have to throw the whole thing away?
Rethinking an Everyday Essential
Zerro is one of the few toothbrush brands still manufacturing in Canada, and their approach is refreshingly practical. Instead of designing a product meant to be discarded, they created a toothbrush built to last.
The idea is simple:
-
Keep the handle
-
Replace only the small brush head
-
Reduce waste over time
By separating the part that wears out from the part that doesn’t, Zerro significantly cuts down on the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill without asking people to change how they brush or care for their teeth.
It’s sustainability designed for real life.
Why Replaceable Heads Matter
Most conventional toothbrushes are made from mixed materials, which makes them difficult (or impossible) to recycle. When they’re worn out, the entire brush is thrown away.
With a replaceable-head toothbrush, the equation changes. Instead of discarding the whole toothbrush every few months, you’re only replacing a small portion. Over years of use, that reduction adds up.
This approach doesn’t aim for perfection, it aims for progress. And that’s something we value deeply at Simply Natural Canada.
Responsible Recycling with TerraCycle
Of course, even the smallest parts still reach an end of life and Zerro has thought carefully about that too.
Zerro toothbrush replacement heads are designed with responsible recycling in mind. While they are recyclable, like all oral-care items they cannot be placed in your household recycling bin due to hygiene and material sorting requirements.
Instead, Zerro partners with TerraCycle, a specialized organization that responsibly recycles oral-care products.
How the Zerro Recycling Program Works
When your replacement heads are worn out:
-
Store them in a small container until you have a few ready
-
Place them in a regular envelope
-
Mail them using a Canada Post oversized letter stamp (shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer)
Send them to:
Zerro
1400 J-B-Michaud, Door 5
Drummondville, QC
J2C 7V3
Once received, Zerro collects and forwards the heads to TerraCycle, where they are:
-
Cleaned
-
Sorted by material type
-
Recycled into raw materials
Those materials can then be used to create new products, helping keep waste out of landfills and waterways.
It’s a thoughtful system that acknowledges reality while still moving the needle forward.
Why We Chose to Carry Zerro
We don’t believe sustainability should feel intimidating or all-or-nothing. The brands we partner with reflect that philosophy and Zerro is a perfect example.
They offer:
-
A realistic way to reduce single-use plastic
-
Canadian manufacturing and shorter supply chains
-
A clear, transparent end-of-life plan for their products
Most importantly, they make it easier for people to make better choices without needing to be perfect.
A Small Swap That Truly Adds Up
Low-waste living isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about noticing the everyday moments where change is possible.
Replacing your toothbrush is already part of your routine. Choosing one designed to last simply turns that everyday habit into a quieter, more sustainable choice.
If you’re curious to explore Zerro toothbrushes along with other thoughtfully chosen low-waste dental essentials, you’ll find them in our dental care collection, shared as a resource for making everyday swaps a little easier.
